Norte liderou retoma da economia
A verdadeira surpresa dos dados recentemente divulgados pelo INE sobre o crescimento da economia nacional está no facto de o Norte ter sido a região motora da recuperação económica. Este foi o alerta lançado, esta quarta-feira, no Porto, por Carlos Lage.
O presidente da Comissão de Coordenação e Desenvolvimento Regional do Norte (CCDR-N) - que falava em conferência de imprensa para dar conta da primeira reunião, realizada ontem de manhã, do Conselho de Coordenação Intersectorial do Norte (CCIN) - desvalorizou o facto de a região de Lisboa ter registado um crescimento acima da média europeia.
"É sabido que as capitais obtêm, sempre, um crescimento desse tipo", realçou.
Carlos Lage salientou que quem "quiser olhar com atenção" para as estatísticas constata que, após um período de estagnação ou crescimento débil da economia portuguesa, não foi Lisboa que contribui para a recuperação da economia nacional.
"Lisboa esteve, nesse período, abaixo da média nacional. Em 2007, houve um crescimento de 2,4% no Norte, ao passo que Lisboa ficou abaixo dos 1,9%", frisou. O presidente da CCDR-N lamentou que a região de Lisboa revele dificuldade em afirmar a sua capacidade produtiva.
Ao analisar os dados sobre a situação económica e social da Região Norte, Carlos Lage chamou a atenção para duas mudanças que considerou importantes: por um lado, o facto de três quartas partes das exportações portuguesas de bens classificados como sendo de alta tecnologia serem da responsabilidade de empresas nortenhas; por outro lado, o facto de os ganhos de produtividade que garantiram, nos dois últimos anos, o crescimento da economia regional, não se alicerçarem no aumento do emprego.
"São duas mudanças muito importantes que vale bem a pena assinalar", realçou.
Aquele responsável criticou, com base nos dados sobre o crescimento económico do Norte, os "comentadores externos à região" que constantemente a classifiquem como "pobre e atrasada".
Carlos Lage augurou que 2009 mantenha o ritmo de transformação do tecido produtivo da região, com uma aposta continuada na inovação. Face ao espectro de um aumento do desemprego e de um mais baixo desempenho da economia nacional, o presidente da CCRDR-N afirmou ser fundamental apostar no social.
Aquele responsável salientou ainda a importância do CCIN na coordenação regional das políticas da Administração Central.
